Delphos dress, by Mariano Fortuny
9:00 AM
The first time I heard about the "Delphos" dress by Spanish couturier Mariano Fortuny, was on the TV series "El tiempo entre costuras". Seriously, you can't imagine how many interesting and amazing things about antique fashion this series taught me. Stay, I won't spoiler hehe. The dress itself is so simple that I think I got captivated by that feature of it: it was based on the typical tunic from the Ancient Grece, and consisted on a piece of long pleated fabric which came on a rounded box. As Coco Chanel did a little bit after him, with his Delphos dress he freed women's anatomy from corsets and heavy skirts, achieving an elegant and comfortable shape for the one who wore it.
So, as you can imagine, this is not a real Delphos dress. They're not done nowadays, because Mr. Fortuny carried to death the secret of his pleated fabric and also the colors he used. But this vintage by Rare London looks pretty similar to the original, and it made my day when I found it. It's the perfect maxi dress for summer, and you can either wear it with flats or heels, straight hair or into an updo because it's very versatile! We took this pictures an evening off to a dinner on town near the beach, and I wore it on the formal way.

How would you wear a Delphos? Had you ever heard about this piece?
