I don't usually do this things on the blog but I thought it could be fun before packing for Madrid! #superexcited

I love blazers. In every color, pattern, with or without buttons or pockets. I usually wear them everyday, with skirt or jeans or dresses, I don't really mind. For me it's super easy and fast to get the first jeans and plain T-shirt, the blazer of that day and just run out of home because I'm late.

I also like Prince of Wales and Tartan fabrics. They're super classy and elegant, simple, but you don't need anything more on your outfit to make it claim for some attention.

Some days ago we went to a sales & outlet marketplace close to Valencia, and rushing around the stands of jewelry, leather jackets and different brands, a corner with lots of different patterned fabrics with checks caught my attention. I ran toward it literally.

It was ''Buttercup Talavera'' a brand born in a northern town called Talavera de la Reina, which manufactures very craftsmanship-made clothes for women, with a very ''British'' and urban, timeless and chic touch. Must's have? Jackets and vests.

I bought this blazer (though I fell in love with many others) and also the cape you'll see below. It's so Sherlock! Pity that Talavera is so far away from Valencia (4 or 5 hours? Maybe a bit more)... I'll have to learn how to shop by phone from now on!

Like everything in life, we also make mistakes related to fashion. Sometimes it’s due to ignorance, hurries or limited time to think about... Or just because bad taste. We’ve got used to see ‘’fashion-arghs’’ and ‘’fashion-don’ts’’ almost everywhere, on catwalks and their streetstyle, and because nobody is perfect, sometimes without realizing it, we make them too. I’m not special nor I have the ‘’fashion gift’’ to dress (and I think nobody has) and because of that, today I want to show you 7 typical mistakes that I always fall in when I get dressed in the morning... And I always repeat time after having committed them.

I hope you learn from my tips, just to not make them too… Or just to realize what was wrong and you couldn’t notice. Enjoy!

I've totally ruined several pieces because of this fact (foundation and mascara are the worst enemies). Watch out for the light-colored items and if possible, do your makeup routine before you get dressed.

Keeping it simple. I've been having so much to do and think about on the last weeks, that the last thing I wanted to do when opening the wardrobe on the mornings (or late at night) is tie myself up thinking what I should wear for the next day.

So: pair of black trousers or jeans, basic T-shirt and color blazer. It's always the same scheme when it's exam crazy-lazy-week or delivery of homework/portfolios season. I don't even complicate too much things with accessories and colors (take as an example my fringe necklace: it claims for attention because is unusual, but very simple at the same time). The jacket or outerwear is what determines the color that day. If my feet hurt, heels are changed for flat or ballerinas, but I mostly go for black or white things.

It may seem a bit boring, but it saves me much time to get ready and think about what to wear... The essential piece I can never leave in my daily life is a big/XXL size handbag. This bowling style from Burberry (mum's closet...) is perfect for carrying the camera, and the pencil-case, and measuring tape (you don't really know how useful it is until you get stuck into Architecture) and tons of things you once thought were improbable to use on your everyday.

Not a bad idea as a College outfit or just for the daily basis, isn't it?

''El tiempo entre costuras''. Translated as The Time in Between is the TV series adaptation of María Dueñas' book with the same name, and my favorite (and I think the most awesome) series related to fashion I've seen ever. With more than 5 million viewers in Spain, it has now reached United States ready to hit every TV on the country thanks to Sira Quiroga's adventures. 

Finding a fashion-centric series is very difficult, and specially a Spanish one. This one caught my heart, not only because the setting is breathtaking, the music truly awesome and the costumes and atrezzo amazing. There's also a beautiful story behind it. A story in which a young, poor Spanish girl has to forge her own destiny thanks to her skilled hands and sewing techniques, a story about a passionate woman who becomes strong and brave believing in herself. The Time in Between is certainly an hymn about self-confidence and a series full of intrigue, romance and heart-touching moments.

Just for those of you who don't know the series (I think it's currently being adapted to other languages) or the book, here's a little synopsis:

''Suddenly left abandoned and penniless in Algiers by her lover, Sira Quiroga forges a new identity. Against all odds she becomes the most sought-after couture designer for the socialite wives of German Nazi officers. But she is soon embroiled in a dangerous political conspiracy as she passes information to the British Secret Service through a code stitched into the hems of her dresses.''

The book is actually really close to the series, but as some say: "an image is worth a thousand words". This is why I think the TV adaptation is the best way to see the heroine wearing those breathtaking dresses and outfits from mid twentieth century. In case you're still reticent to watch it, let's see how this story begins...

“My name is Sira Quiroga and I’m a seamstress. I never imagined that destiny would lead me to risk my life crossing a foreign city with an arsenal of pistols strapped to my body. But now I know that destiny is the sum of all the decisions we make in our lives. For me, it all began with something as simple as learning to thread a needle…”

I really encourage you to watch it and get to know Sira and her adventures. Hope you enjoy this intriguing, passionate and fashion series as much as I did!

Before someone asks me: I do not horse. My sport is fencing, forever fencing. But this outfit ended really looking a bit likely the ones worn by horse riders, with those caps and tailored competition blazers I'm totally in love with.

We've been having a crazy week talking about weather. It's been super cloudy everyday, but it has no rained at all. I hate that feeling of going out of home carrying tons of things (in addition to the usual portfolio, notebook and so on, let's take the umbrella too, just in case!) and then there falls not a drop of water. And the feeling of not having any idea on what to wear because if it rains, you're at great risk of ruining those shoes or pants which are anti-water (leather jackets and boots more precisely).

So, my idea for dealing with this situation? Rain boots. Everywhere. Anytime. With almost everything. This black ones were a great purchase: super comfy, durable and really easy to combine because of their color. I can also wear them on a daily basis without everyone noticing at all I'm wearing rain boots, which is cool. We went to a really amazing and peaceful place that day with our classmates, an almost secret garden on Valencia called ''El Jardín de las Hespérides'' and my outfit ended like so. Really sporty-chic inspired and a bit old-fashioned, ready for sand grounds on the garden and rain puddles on the city!

Architecture. Apart from fashion, it's my other thing in my life I'm most passionate of. I'm very grateful I have had the chance to be studying it, and thanks to it discover what I really want to become on the future. Then you might be thinking... Why this post? We're in a blog about fashion, aren't we? Why is this crazy girl talking about this today?

Well, I think I've already said that once around here but never mind. Proportions, materials, colors, the way you build everything, work with volumes and textures, and manage to join everything on the correct way. Both fields have this concepts around, and you have to know about everything you would ever have imagined to take control. So, when a few days ago I rescued from one of the class folders the last project I worked on, I thought it could be great to show some images to you, create a conversation about it, get to know something is related to this blog in a sort of way but you don't usually see around here.

Basically we were supposed to virtually create on a patch near the University a group of 5 houses for 5 different families. My proposal consisted on a sort of shoebox where everything was placed on the inside. Two long walls set out the main volume to create more public and private spaces on the outside of the houses and cut the garden into two different places.

Working with this kind of things really let me see things on a different way. Since I'm working on this virtual projects, I'm always turning nuts about how to organize this or that (talking about everything, even when I cook a salad... It's crazy), how to combine this piece or no wait, because this would look better with this other one...
